Backstory

Years after Mizushi settled into their new habitat underwater, a small miracle occurred. A Mizushi couple that had been preparing for their child was surprised to find not just their child born - but another creature alongside it. Made from scraps the baby did not need, the first Syveli was born.From that point on, incidents like this were reported all over the city. Newborns being accompanied by Syveli was a blessing and families kept the pet as a close companion for their child.

Abilities

Temperature
Syveli don't have enough magic potential to keep their body at an acceptable temperature, which is why they depend on their Mizushi's body temperature to cool themselves down.
If they don't have a Mizushi owner, they will search for alternative methods to keep themselves cool.Teeth
Syveli teeth are incredibly sturdy which enables them to bite into everything they want. They're not used to eating, so they'll try anything that looks fun to them.Attack & Defense
Since Syveli are almost invulnerable on their water parts, they will make use of that advantage and try to make their opponent trip by running around their feet or try to blind them by wrapping around their face. If the foe tries to grab them, Syveli will bite them with their sharp little painful teeth.When cornered, Syveli roll themselves up in a ball, using the water of their body as a shield for their fur parts. Using their magic, they can create an additional ice shield around them, but they won't be able to hold up that shield for a long time.

A Syvelis magic is very weak, so they can only cast the simplest of spells.

Reproduction

Syveli do not reproduce.They are born as a side product of a Mizushi baby. When Mizushi parents collect material to assemble a baby, their magic will only make use of as much material as needed. Sometimes leftover material is brought to life alongside the baby, which is what we know as a Syveli.Since Syveli are born from the same material as the Mizushi baby, their appearances tend to match.
Depending on the amount of excess material, there may be more than one Syveli born at the same time.

Life Cycle

Birth
Syveli are born with an adolescent body as they do not grow or change over the years.Adolescence
Their behavior changes as they grow older. They will become overall calmer and smarter. Their adult personalities will fully manifest after about a year.Death
Syveli are immortal in a sense that they don't physically age, but they are vulnerable to heat and wear and tear of their limbs. They may be put down after receiving considerable damage to their limbs.
It has also been observed that Syveli with a late owner will sit on their graves and refuse to move - which in most cases causes them to overheat due to the lack of cooling and they pass away alongside their owner.

FAQ

What happens when a Syveli isn't cooled properly?
If a Syveli is warm for too long their limbs will slowly rot, their ice will melt and their water will slowly lose the ability to store magic - which will eventually result in death.Are there any wild Syveli?
Syveli are born together with a Mizushi baby, so there will always be an owner. Any wild Syveli are abandoned pets. There are orphanages for families that can't take care of their Syveli.
